Bozeman, Montana General Information
In a story right out of "Lonesome Dove" Nelson Story drove a thousand head of cattle from Texas to Montana in 1866, thereby starting Montana's cattle country! (remember the battle of the Little Big Horn took place in 1876 ,10 years later - what a cattle drive that must have been)!
Bozeman was founded in 1874 by John Bozeman, who struck a trail through the Bridger mountains into the Gallatin Valley (Named by Lewis & Clark) in their visit here in 1806.
Bozeman has grown and thrived as a ranching and farming community. WIth about 30,000+ citizens, Bozeman continues to be one othe "Last Best Places" to live in America.
With a state land grant university in Bozeman, Montana State University, the city has just about all you might need; a small town, a university, lots of great western history, cowboys, culture, museums, parades, rodeos, awesome fly fishing, fun things to do, an easy life style, and some really fun winters!
Bozeman has its own ski resort, Bridger Bowl, with about as good skiing as one could ask for, with regular doses of deep powder, and 80-100" base.
Hope you enjoy your visit, and leave with as good thoughts about our town and community as we have.
See you all, at the ARA Big Sky - Reunion Jun 23-27, 2010
